The Symposium will be held at the Bill Brown Suite at the University of Bristol, a purpose-built conference suite ideal for this PCS 2021 and close to Bristol City Centre.

Getting to Bristol

Air

From Bristol Airport

Bristol Airport is eight miles (13 km) south of the city and has scheduled flights to many UK and European cities. To get to the University from Bristol Airport:

  • The Airport Flyer Express bus (service A1) runs approximately every ten minutes at peak times between the airport and Bristol Bus and Coach Station near the University campus.
  • Checker Cars offer taxis from Bristol Airport. The journey should take around 30 minutes

From London Heathrow

To get to the University from London Heathrow:

  • National Express offers a direct coach from London Heathrow to Bristol. Stops include Bristol Coach Station and Bristol University Queens Road.
  • The Heathrow Express train runs from Heathrow to London Paddington. From Paddington, Great Western Railway trains run to Bristol Temple Meads station. Bristol Temple Meads is about 2 miles from the University campus.

From Birmingham International Airport

There is a train station in Birmingham International Airport. It is a short train journey from the airport to Birmingham New Street Station.

From Birmingham New Street Station, you can either take a coach from Birmingham Coach Station (a short 15-minute walk away from the train station) or take a direct train from Birmingham New Street to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station.

From Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport has its own train station. You can book direct trains from Gatwick to Bristol Temple Meads Train Station. These run every hour and are reasonably priced if you book in advance. You can book train tickets through many websites, such as National Rail.

There is also a coach service which runs between London Gatwick Airport and Bristol Coach Station. It is recommended to book tickets in advance, as coaches get very busy

Advice

If you are flying into the UK and then travelling to Bristol on a coach, we recommend that you:

  • book your coach ticket for at least three hours after you are due to land.
  • check luggage allowance carefully, you may need to buy extra luggage allowance, or an extra passenger ticket if you have a lot of luggage.

Train

Bristol has two mainline train stations. Visitors should travel to Bristol Temple Meads as it is about two miles from the University and is much closer than Bristol Parkway.   The nearest local train station to the University is Clifton Down. Eurostar

The Eurostar trains arrive at London St Pancras Station. Transfer here to complete your journey to Bristol either by train or coach.


Coach

Coach services arrive at Bristol via a wide range of locations around the country, including airports.
